Paris - travel photos 1

As I took this shot of the Hotel de Louvre in Paris, a bus drove past. I cursed my luck and took the photograph again. When I saw the results, the 'accident' looked far better than the intended shot. I hand-held the camera by propping it up against a handrailing.   Date: April '93

The Arc De Triomphe - a well-known Parisian sight seen here at night with car lights streaking past.

I spotmetered off a highlit area on the Arc, and then steadied the camera against a tree to photograph this handheld at 1/8th sec.

Coming up an escalator out of the Parisian Metro, I saw these neon signs against the evening sky and quickly composed and framed this shot.   Date: April '93

When I saw this statue in the foyer of an embassy in Paris - poised against the backdrop of this elegantly curving staircase, and in such moody light - I simply had to record the scene. (Handheld at 1/8th sec.)   Date: April '93
